T-Rex Magnus?

Everyone else has these at $399 and GC has 'em in the latest flyer for a C-note less. I'm currently in a bind because my son is squatting in "my" mancave so all my music stuff is in a corner of the living room, and I'm thinking this may be useful as a stand-in for an array of pedals I don't have room for. I'm not a big fan of tweaking and twiddling knobs, bunches of menus and other stuff like that: I prefer playing to programming. Whaddaya think?

It doesn't look like it takes up much less space, save for the patch cables I guess. I think for it to work, you'd have to really like everything that's there. I'll stick to a pedalboard monstrosity I think, though I don't gig. Easy for me to have 15 pedals going if they never really move.

Right.

And my tastes change all the time, so I buy and sell pedals a lot (like guitars), so this wouldn't be something that would work for me.

TC has one of those multi pedal box thingies that's all programmable. You can pick and choose what models of which go where.
That might be pretty cool.

I see Vox has a couple of multi pedal modelers too.

Saw that at GC. One thing that I noticed was that none of the knobs or switches was protected from a stray stomp. Most MFX boards I've seen either staggered the rows of knobs or buttons, or put some protective bars underneath (or both), but with this one, everything's on the same level, so hopefully the knobs would stand up to that potential stray foot...

I'm so not interested in that. What if I want the overdrive after the distortion instead of before? What if I really love the reverb but all the other effects suck? I just can't make that kinda commitment to one box.

I don’t think this is intended for live playing. Seems like most live players wouldn’t want a unit that puts delay and reverb in front of the amp rather than in the effects loop. But for just practicing or banging out demos this could be a nice time saver. It’s a lot less complicated than a pedalboard or a multi-fx unit. Lock yourself in a room with just this, a one-channel amp, and a 4-track and you could probably get a lot done.

On the contrary, there are lots of players that don't have, much less use, an FX loop live. I personally like to, but rented backline doesn't allow you to do that, in many cases. If this had chorus instead of reverb (assuming the dist/OD were usable), I'd be all over it.

I fail to understand why they needed to put an overdrive and a distortion in there. They could've opened that slot up for another mod section and made it more useable.

Actually, I agree with the comments re: OD and Dist -- give me OD and I'd be happy. Then perhaps they could add chorus or compression in its place and make me happier.

Both of those in one unit -- switchable -- I so need that! For the Broadway gigs I do, it really runs the gamut from super clean to super heavy with stops in between. Seriously considered the Carl Martin one, but the distortion seemed a bit lacking.

Prefer individual pedals over a multi-FX unit...this way, if I find a specific pedal I like better than my current one (or my current one dies), I can just swap it out.

Besides, where would I ever find a more hideous wah pedal?
