Squier Cabronita bridge swap

angry tele

L'effet c'est moi
I swapped out the original bridge for a Hipshot one.
wow! what a difference. It looks better, feels smoother, intonates easier,
and sustains more. Sure it cost about half of what the entire guitar cost
but, it was worth it! I freakin' love this Tele

Original American standard-style "could be worse" cheese grater monstrosity:

Precisely engineered utilitarian art:

the og bridge uses 5 screws , the hipshot 3.
here is a pic of the underside
I removed the saddles so I could line it up easier
I lined up the string holes, then marked where
the new screws would go and drilled using the smallest bit I had
I think it was 1/8th" , same bit used to drill pickguard screws
or electrosocket screws
you dont want any bigger cuz the poly will chip off in big chunks
which would be visible.
mark the bit with tape where to stop drilling-I drilled the length
of the unthreaded part of the screw, about 4mm. All you need
to do is start the screw hole (the body is basswood and soft as shit)

red dots are approximately where each screw hole was drilled.

note my bridge pinches in on the top sides
and because of this I can just barely see
a small part of the og screw hole
but you have to really look closely for it.

the hipshot style bridge does not pinch in and thus covers the holes completely.

not a big deal as I rather have the hipshot bridge which looks
sleeker/better/less cheap.

Dammit, I should have done that to my cabronita. :(

the og bridge was OK...this one is much better though

Im not sure why cabs arent more popular. I sold all my guitars except my broadcaster and cabronita.
the pickups twang and do eveything a good humbucker does. except for stupid high gain djent stuff.
they are like a twangy PAF.

I think broadcasters, filtertrons and P90s cover all tonal bases one would ever need.
