Show Us Your MIJ Guitars

MIJ fan

Not Phil
My first MIJ was when I was about 15 years old; it was a Yamaha FG-200 N steel string acoustic.
Shortly there after I located a used Ibanez Flying V, a copy of a 1967 Gibson Flying V; it was a crazy good guitar.
So, I have been a MIJ fan many years, have been through literally hundreds & I still have about three dozen.
So, post some pics of your MIJ guitars; hoping to see some good stuff.

I had to think about this. I've sold all of my import stuff the past few years except for the Tokai. Which now has a Warmoth neck on it.

I've got nothing. I don't have anything against MIJ gear, I just don't have any. I'd love to have my old MIJ Strat back. It was light as a feather and played amazing.

I've never really questioned where my guitars were made. I know the J45 is USA and the new Tele was Mexico. The others were most likely Pac Rim, but have no clue as the exact place.

Early '80s MIJ Squier Strat w/ aftermarket Floyd (pic probably around '91)--It was my main gigging guitar for years. Still have it, but it's completely thrashed and lives in a case in my studio closet.

Charvel Pro Mod So Cal--I actually have two of these; this one's tuned down a half step.

The only MIJ guitar I’ve ever owned was a nameless Ferarri red SG copy from the lat 60s with those “single-coil-under-humbucker-covers” pickups and the most dastardly bridge ever designed by man. I owned that guitar for about ten years and was never able to fully eliminate the buzzing. An MIK Squier Strat II (bought in about 87) was an enormous upgrade.

If I were to dig them all out of their cases for pictures it would break the forum. So I'll just stick to the daily drivers.

1. My first... 1985 MIJ Fender Contemporary Telecaster. Started out white, then was grey, now it's blue and almost completely back together.

2. My main axe, The White Strat of Chimey Goodness. 1987 MIJ Squier branded Fender Strat.

3. My main dual humbucker machine, 1986 MIJ Fender Contemporary Telecaster. Looks grey in pics but I promise you it is GREEN.

4. 1983 Aria Pro II ZZ Deluxe. This guitar was originally owned by Mike Score from A Flock of Seagulls and saw heavy use on their 1983 World Tour including the US Festival. It was gifted to me in pretty poor shape several years ago. I removed all of the faded gold hardware and replaced with chrome including the bridge (standard Strat bridge bottomed out as a hardtail), has a brutal combo of a Seymour Duncan bridge pup and a Dimarzzio neck pup. The ultimate sleeper... plays amazing thanks to a fantastic neck and sounds vicious.
