Then I was looking for a different hotel to stay in since Sunday will be Mother's day and I found The Alexander in downtown Indy.

Besides the modern styling, the hotel is filled with modern art on loan from the Indianapolis Art Museum!

Very Excited!

You can buy ride alongs, or you drive and then they have single lap, 3 lap, and 7 lap packages. Probably a timing thing of how many people can they get in and out of the 8 or 10 cars in one day.

Are they insured? I would definitely like to push their limits. Is there a speed limit? I'd love to do that after a couple of drinks.

If that is your wife in front of the vinyl birds - she looks pretty close that guy who isn't you. You may want to check on that.

Seriously - we expect a full report from your event on the weekend wrap up thread.

Ha... No. My wife is on the left, my youngest on the right, and my oldest is in the middle right before our grandson who was born in January.

Had a great afternoon.... despite the fact that a few minutes before I was supposed to drive the McLaren I watched a guy get into it and smoke the clutch.

They took it out to the back of the course cooled down the clutch and tried a launch.... lots of noise and no go.

So with the Lambo and the McLaren both out because of transmission issues, they gave me extra laps in the two remaining cars. 6 Laps in the Ferrari and 5 laps in the Audi R8.

After the second corner in the Ferrari with a little tail kick and then an excellerated punch down the decreasing radius turn, the ride along instructor said "Oh.... You've driven before!"

The all wheel drive Audi disappointed me a little. The steering is a little numb and if you encounter any gravel or anything, it just wants to piggishly understeer to the outside. Very difficult to get it to tuck the nose in and turn (like the Ferrari).

Overall, great weekend away with the wife. Highly recommend The Alexander in downtown Indianapolis!

how the hell does someone smoke the clutch in a parking lot?

maybe they should have folks drive a Karman Ghia around a little first, so they can tell if the driver knows anything about driving.
sure would be a lot cheaper. :cop:
99% of people couldn't fit into a Karman Ghia.

To be fair, it is a BIG parking lot, straight away is just shy of a quarter mile long.

The rinse repeat of full throttle lap, back in the pits, swap driver, take off again... I'm surprised any of the cars were still running at the end of the day.

Some of the people were dropping a hundred bucks for a pro driver to make them shit themselves, others paid 50 bucks a lap for a handful of laps, another 30-50 for the photo shoot.... I said fuck all that noise and bought the package with most user laps with the least babysitting or posing. It was way more economical (if you already know how to drive). Then I got extra laps because the cars I paid for weren't running.

I just watched several guys stall the car out.... then start it back up and bury the throttle, no finesse at all.
