Dig it! Roland Blues Cube

They made a blues cube 60, and blues cube 30. I had a 30. Bought on craig's list. It WAS a 2x10, guy took a sawsall to it, and made it a head. Got it very cheap, made it into a 1x12.

Many, many, many horrible solid state amps out there, and some great SS amps. I've read lots of people rave about the blues cubes, I did NOT hear great from my amp. It wasn't horrible but, there is so much better out there. Different folks like different sounds, Your millage may vary, etc..

Another 10-minute gear demo with 6 minutes of somebody talking.

I would be really, really interested in a solid state amp made with robust, high-quality components. I'm not married to tubes and, frankly, would like to avoid the maintenance hassle that comes with them.

I also don't need all the "Oh, but it models a real 12AX7 and 6L6." Frankly, that has the sound of bullshit we've been hearing for 20 years.

Players associate solid state with cheaply made, unreliable components, and minimal effort put it into the amp's voicing by the manufacturer. That's not always true but the reputation is well-deserved.

Make a solid state amp that sounds great. Give it something special in the midrange voicing to give it character and kill the "sterile" quality. Use top-notch components and construction so the thing is still going strong and sounding the same in 20 years. Don't worry about having a bunch of presets, half-assed emulations, and effects that will sound dated in 10 years.

If it sounds like I just described the Jazz Chorus, you're exactly right. That's why the JC is still around. Copy that formula, guys.

I hope it delivers in the same way as the JC. Maybe someone will youtube a side by side comparison.
