Revealed: The 5 Best Distortion Effects Pedals Of All Time

I'm a bit surprised that the DS-1 got that much love. Not because I don't agree, but because it, and Boss pedals in general take a lot of abuse on the interwebs.

Pretty good and diverse list there.

The fact that the green Ibanez TS-09 Tubescreamer was left out makes the list null and void. While it's not my fave, there have been countless artists who've had it as a must have, and there are a ton of pedals out there that use the TS-09 as the jumping off point like the Visual Sounds Jeckle and Hyde and some fulltone pedals.

It is a conspicuous omition.

Personally never really liked it, but I have to give it its due. It is an iconic pedal.

Back in the 80's, I had an Ibanez "Metal Screamer" pedal that I liked at the time.

Not sure how it differed from the TS, but at least to my ears it was much fuller sounding.

If they are talking about vintage versions of the DS-1 and the Ratt, I can definitely see that. Newer versions are not as good. The Ratt, DS-1, and a Tube Screamer should be 1 - 3 based on influence. I have never played a Wampler pedal so I have no basis to say yea or nay on those two. I am a bit shocked a Big Muff is not listed unless they consider fuzz pedals a separate category.

Exactly why I think they omitted the tube screamer. It's an overdrive supposedly.

How is it possible that the list has well-known, predictable pedals like the Rat and DS-1 but also two Wamplers?

Not that they're bad but Wampler isn't that well known or popular.
