Too Controversial To Have An Athleisure Line
Anyone have any experience with these? There's one on CL, and it kinda gave me a GAS attack.
Yea or nay?

Yeah. Those are fun little things. I played one in a shop once and it was really swell. Sadly, when I went back a couple days later to buy it, it was gone.

I had an SE Carlos Santana. It was okay, but I didn't love it. It didn't make me sound like Carlos either.

I have one... But to be fair, mine has been upgraded with USA tuners, nut, bridge, and knob. It has been a fantastic backup guitar, and one time it sounded better that the other guitar I brought to the show (pre Thorn strat) and I ended up playing the PRS1 the rest of the night after three songs.

That's a straight-up, unqualified "yes." The playability on the two I've played for any length of time was perfectly fine, though a Tusq nut wouldn't hurt anything (just on general principles).

It's a really nice LP Jr. clone but somehow even more simple. The single control packs a lot of subtle versatility into the combination of one knob+playing dynamics. It's refreshingly direct, though you may find yourself riding the knob more than you do on other guitars (umm, that sounded dirtier than I meant it). The pickup is pretty nice with a good midrange punch both clean and dirty, though there are definitely better ones out there. It sounds damned good, but dropping in a used Gibson P90 or Fralin soapbar would likely improve it.

The neck has a bit of heft to it but it's not a baseball bat; I have smaller hands and it was perfectly comfortable. It could stand a little ScotchBrite on the back to knock down the glossy/sticky thing a bit, but that's it. It is solid feeling, but not deceptively heavy like a some slab bodies can be.

I would definitely jump on it if it were priced well.

I would like a tone control, but if you don't have a single P90 guitar you really owe it to yourself. I'm pretty sure you'll love it.

I was sceptical myself, but Phil X was right.

I have the korina one.

I have two SE model PRS. both are great. I didn’t feel a need to upgrade anything on the SE one at all. It sounds and plays great! It kicks ass. The Santana SE that I have has a JB in the bridge position.
