Played a LTD Gus G. (the pointy one, not the LP) at my local GC....

... I must say, it was set up very, very nicely. Fretwork was superb on it. All the frets were leveled and dressed/polished. Better fretwork than I've seen on many a guitar selling in the $1000+ range, and the price on the tag was only $400.

Most of the time the cheaper guitars have horrible set-up at this particular GC, so I'm assuming this fantastic set-up came from the factory like that...probably typical of ESP, too

It was the hard-tail model, not the Floyd, black, and when I plucked it off the hanger, it was tuned to drop-D

Didn't have the chance to plug it in, but it was one of those guitars that just feel right as soon as you pick it up. Low, low action, no buzz....I'm almost tempted to go back for it......

I'm not surprised. I may not like their neck profiles, but I haven't run into too many ESPs with crappy quality.

I mentioned in another thread that one of my students had the lowest end model in the F-series and the neck on it is excellent. The parent is good about keeping it regularly maintained too and it slays most of those Squiers that come in Strat packs.
