PedalTrain Velcro SUCKS

I got a JR max board for my kemper stage (with the gigantic flight case).

I’m all out of 3M dual lock so I figured I’d take a chance with the Velcro that PedalTrain includes with their boards.

Absolute crap! After attaching pedals with max surface area of Velcro, they peeled right off with barely any pull. And one strip came right off the board so the adhesive sucks too.

That’s all. Dual lock ordered.

I’ve never had issues with their Velcro. I can’t stand dual lock. I always changed things up too much and it’s a pain to get pedals off with it.

maybe I got a bad batch but this stuff was 100% unreliable for transporting to practice and shows.

I'm thinking either they changed it or you did. It's nowhere close to as strong as dual lock, but I had to remove their velcro from a board and it was a giant pain in the ass. Had to get a hair dryer to heat the adhesive to pull it off.

Velcro kinda sucks regardless of the source. The glue tends to fail before the velcro bond does. Its been my experience that the heat generated form the electronics in the pedals tends to melt the glue causing a failure, plus its messy. The only way to combat this IME is using mass quantities of material on the pedal to overcome the qualities of the crappy glue. Boss pedals with that rubber stuff on the bottom, forget it, its not gonna stick in any case.
Dual lock on the other hand works too well. You need a tool to separate it and the glue is better than any velcro Ive used. The dual lock glue seems to have a higher melting/failure point. Dual lock glue even sticks to the Boss pedals, altho admittedly not all that well. All dual lock is great if you never change out stuff on your board but otherwise its a pain in the ass. You might as well use a bolt on or zip tie system if you are never gonna change out pedals.
I find Dan and Micks (TPS) solution a good compromise. Use fuzzy side velcro on the board and small pieces of dual lock on the pedals. You get a decent hold but its much easier to take pedals on and off. You still need a tool because the lock is stronger than the glue, and the dual lock will tend to pull off some pedals(esp the Boss rubber backed ones) if you just yank it off. But its much easier to separate than having dual lock on both sides.
