Patrick Stump: I'm a 27-Year-Old Has-Been

s much as I dislike this band I always got a kick out of this tune/video:

That's a bummer for him. But all the greats have gone through their less-popular years. Maybe it will pick back up.

I don't know anything about him, though.

Never really been a big fan, but also never disliked any of their songs. Also, FOB's cover of "Beat It" featuring John Mayer on the solo was fantastic.

Anywho, the guy has my pity. It would suck to have that kind of sense of the dream being over so early and having that much opposition to the point of it seeming like betrayal from the fans. Can't be fun - really hope it comes around for Patrick. Plus, he seems to have a pretty good attitude and general disposition from what little can be seen in interviews (particularly him revealing his signature guitar by Gretsch).

When your target audience is primarily kids desperate for the approval of their peers, you've got a tough road ahead of you.

Yeah, I posted that on Facebook yesterday, but it largely went ignored. That part about fans telling him his life and creativity peaked at 18 has gotta be rough. Then saying he sucks now that he's not fat?

Better to be a has-been than a never-was.

This guy needs to get over himself, imho.

I got an idea....go get a fucking job.

Well, fame is fleeting, at best. I would think anyone in that line of work would realize that from the thousands of stories like this out there. Sucks that the guy's ride on the fame train is over, but it isn't exactly a surprise. His big mistake seems to be rolling his life savings into his new project, and then not being successful. He should have maybe considered spending SOME of it, and saving the rest. I mean, how many solo project spin off bands are more successful than the original act? Not many.

wow, so a guy has a band that has a huge record and then the public loses interest and he is no longer a rock star. How is he any different than any other one hit wonder?

I have some work around the house that I could use help with... It would be my pleasure to pay him 50 bucks a day...
