Out or Delivery: new ebike

Dudeman1967

blah, blah, blah...
This one here is to be delivered today. I borrowed one from a friend similar to this one and had a great time. My town has a great bike path network i can get most places without having to enter a roadway. I can cover 30 miles with as much or as little effort as I feel like exerting. Goes 28 mph without any pedal assist. Gonna upgrade the seat with a nice cushy one to save my ass. It is the Haoqi Black Leopard Pro

I've been looking at e-bikes forever. My jerk kids make fun of me.
My kids have no intrest in bicycles. They did most of there interactions online before driving age.

My generation went everywhere on our bikes. We rode mile after mile until we could drive, then the bikes were put away. I remember dreaming of having a motor on my bike to help with hills. Now I can have my childhood dream no matter how small or late. Still waiting for my jet pack and flying car.

I'd love to know my personal mile count on bicycles. It has got to be astronomical, considering I did distance cycling from 14 to 18 years old.
And I'm the same, my bike was ridden all day every day growing up. Sun up to sun down. I've got to be over 50k on a bike.
My dad and I kind of kept track back in the day of our total mileage but I've lost those notes long ago. I do recall seeing over 3000 miles on one of my early bike computers.

Cool. Just be careful when charging it. Never charge when you aren't nearby or while sleeping. In New York City, e-bike and e-scooter batteries sparked 268 fires in 2023 that killed 18 people and injured 150 others.

I’d like to have one to ride to the gym and for small grocery runs but it would get stolen about five minutes after I went inside.

I sort of hate those things because when I'm walking on a trail motherfuckers will come up behind you at high speeds with no bell or other warning. If one ever hits me I'll probably be charged with aggravated assault...

That’s awesome you’ve got a new bike coming, especially one like the Haoqi Black Leopard Pro. I love the idea of cruising at 28 mph without even pedaling—so fun.
Definitely smart to upgrade the seat though. A cushy one makes such a difference on longer rides.
When I got my e-bike, I realized pretty quick how much of an investment it was, so I looked into https://sundaysinsurance.co.uk/bicycle-insurance to keep it covered. E-bikes like that can get expensive to fix or replace.

So, you just got an e-bike… 9 months ago. Cool.

4 years ago, I got an e-bike, mainly for my son to use. It’s a MacWheel, made in China. Not associated with Apple. I recall paying $799. He used it a lot for a few years. I’ve used it a few times.

It was a pretty decent bang for the buck at the time. The disc brakes are a little bit weak IMO. I’ve thought about upgrading the brakes to hydraulic. But, since we have not been using it much lately that idea went on the back burner.
