Oooops. Incoming vintage!

I was goofing around on an auction site and there was an estate auction in my city.

There were some interesting automotive tools. I’ll probably give some of those to my grandson.
I don’t know if he’ll know what do with a timing light though.

There was an old amp in the catalog. It works. Most of the functions function, but overall it all works.
The power switch doesn’t turn off. That’s all.

I threw a lowball bid on it.
It ran to $28 until the last 12 hours or so. Then it started to move, but I still got it for my max bid. $325 CDN

I pick it up tomorrow.

There’s a YouTube video that shows the actual amp working. I’ll post the link after I get the amp in my hands.

Some documentation comes with it.

and I got this little guy for less than 20 bucks.

That amp looks like something out of a late seventies sci-fi movie. It’s worth it just to have an amp with those cool knobs.

I’m not sure what part of my failed to recognise that this is a 4x10 COMBO.

But it’s a 4x10 COMBO!

I was able to heft it up into my truck without issue.
I was thinking I should just carry it right downstairs when I got it home. Luckily, some other part of my brain said, “You don’t want to do that.”
So, I put it down and went and got my dolly.

It all works as described in the previous owner’s video here:

Congrats! Happy vintage amp day!

I had no idea it was that big either. I didn't watch the video but, saw it in the "picture".

For some reason, it reminded me of a portable record player from a million years ago and I was expecting it to have a lid and expected it to be same size as the record player. Also, now that I look at the "picture" again, I see she is sitting on it.

Well, I knew something was going on with the back because of that odd piece of wood screwed on there.
I didn’t expect this though.

And I think I found the source of a rattle that I thought was the house.

All in all, these things don’t bother me that much.
I can fix the speaker mounting easily.

That hole in the back: I’m more interested in the story of how it happened. LOL.
The cover works well enough. If I ever get to think about redoing the tolex, shoot me. Then, I might try to fill the wood. Somehow.

Speakers have some numbers on them, but no branding that I’ve seen yet.
I have to do some more spelunking.

Looks like a cool amp. For the back, I'd just cut a sheet of 1/4" plywood and spray paint it black. Quick and easy. :thu:

I was playing a club one night and the cops raided it. I was in a panic because I was holding a bag of cocaine in my jacket pocket. So, I pulled out my pocket knife, cut that jagged hole into the back of the amp and stuffed the bag of white powder into it.
