NPD - Artec SE-GEQ Graphic EQ and Digital Tuner

I got this a couple of weeks but haven't had time to post anything until now. Had my eye on this for a while as I've been considering rebuilding a pedal board for my electric rig but pulled the trigger as my band has started doing more acoustic stuff and I needed a way to have a set amount of volume boost for picking as opposed to strumming.

Nice box.

Well packed in the box, no instructions but you don't really need them for this, it's so simple.

Got to love a company who includes a battery so you can use it out of the box!

IN USE:

Apparently true bypass, all I know is it makes no impact on the signal chain when turned off so I'm inclined to believe them. Case is metal and solid as is the footswitch. There is no switching noise when turning on and off. The tuner button above footswitch converts the pedal to a tuner when depressed, it reverts to an EQ pedal when up, the two functions are separate and cannot be used simultaneously.

EQ:

I use this to boost the mid frequencies and gain slightly in line with my electro acoustic and it sounds great so I'm chuffed. I have briefly tried the range of the sliders and EQ boost and cut is not huge (subjective view as I've never had another EQ pedal only a rack mount one) but is all musical and sufficient. The gain control seems to have quite a bit on tap.

Overall I'm perfectly happy with this as an EQ pedal which is what I bought it for.

TUNER:

Pressing the Tuner button above the footswitch turns the pedal into a chromatic tuner pedal. The pedal mutes the output when the tuner is engaged and there is no obvious option to change this so if for some reason you want to have the sound on while tuning then this isn't for you.

LEDs clearly indicate what note your playing and the flat/sharp LEDs work but unlike some other tuners that I've used don't flash to indicate the degree of flatness/sharpness so it can be easy to beyond the correct pitch when tuning as it isn't the fastest to respond. Note that this was using my electro acoustic, not an electric so when I have a chance to test that I'll update if it is any different.

It is possible to change from eq to tuner mode and back if you can toe poke the button but this is not reliable and pretty hard to do.

OVERALL:

Great EQ, OK Tuner. I bought this as an EQ pedal and considered it a bonus to get a chromatic tuner with it so I'm perfectly happy. I'll keep using my clip on tuner for now but it's good to have a built in backup right to hand without any additional space being taken up.

Forgot an important part, this was just £34 on Amazon and actually cost me less as I had a £15 voucher from my daughter from my birthday. Bonus! 8)
