Not OSHA compliant or Hey Rick 381....check it out

Hey Rick 381....if my memory is correct I recall you are the Range Rover guy ? Do you know about the Land Rover 101's ?
Apparently there were only 2669 ever made and all Military only. They were made from 1972 until 1978.
We have a junker one which my boss says is a 1975. It sat for like 30 years in the outside elements. It's a heap right now , no gas tank, no nothing really. So this is one of the many beaters I tinker with when we are slow and nothing else going on. It's got a Rover 3.5 v8 and this is one of the 24volt versions...the alternator is like the size of a coffee machine and weighsd like 25 lbs.
So the boss just wanted to see if it even ran and whether or not the engine was good in order to keep moving forward with it. I was completely skeptical but blown away when it actually fired up.i mean shiot it has points ignition and sat for three decades. the Motherfucker is smoother running than most luxury modern cars, not joking (i will say most of those 3.5 and 3.9's in general are smooth as anything ever made). I mean short of a downpipe exhaust leak it just purrs like a kitten.
There is no electrical stuff working, ignition tumbler is frozen, alternator unhooked, nothing. So i ran a wire from the b attery (24v) to the ignition box/coil and hooked up an external electric fuel pump (we use to drain tanks). This is where it gets NON OSHA COMPLIANT *spits* an open jerry can of petrol with a battery next to it *spits again* , some liberal use of starting fluid into the two Zenith carburetors...hooked up my remote starter switch to the starter and ...crank crank crank, sputter sputter, more starting fluid and BAM it ran. So I warmed it up and ran it for like 20 minutes straight and it just purred like in the video....amazing!
I saw a pristine one on Hemmings motors for over 100,000 but it seem like most go for the 20,00o range.
even as is this heap (especially with a good running motor and drivetrain) could probably fetch 5 G if nothing else as a parts machine since they are so rare.

In my experience (here in the Bay Area), Rovers are mostly sparkling clean, detailed, and driven by utter assholes...

A fully restored one is so cool. Wish I had one.

You could build it like this,

An old high school friend of mine builds those for a living. Back in high school he was always in some kind of Rover and modifying them so it was a no brainer he'd open his own shop one day. He mods the big Mercedes rigs too. Those are awesome.

is that a block heater you got with the cord and is that a Blue color paint? I don't think I've ever seen anything other than Green , White or a couple Red ones from the "classic" range
Trickle charger. Yes it is blue. Kind of like old Fenders it was factory painted white and someone must have ordered one in blue so it was repainted. It was definitely factory painted as everywhere you look it's blue but if you get deep in to the nooks and crannies you can find bits of white. Did you know there were 2 different greens?

There are kinda two types of Rover owners...the ones who are uppity/posh and only drive the new ones say 10 years old or newer and then there are the ones who drive the 80[s and 90's ones like Rick . I haven't had to deal with the 1st type other than a few dudes who had 2010's or thereabouts and honestly they were all very nice and down to earth. The Rick types who drive the older ones are generally eccentrics somewhat from my experience but eccentreics in a good way, usually very liberal ....good weirdos if you will :embarrassed:

That's a Disco 2 if I remember right? probably a 99 -02 or something ? I think the new Disco version is the LR3 ?
My boss bought a 1995 Disco from a local Muffler shop owner who bought it new, it's got ARB lockers front and rear and all kinds of mods underneath, warn 9000 winch. It was set up for seriousoff road ..my Boss paid 1500 for it because the guy said it had a bad engine...after putting a fuel pump in and new gas it fired up and ran fine. heck the winch alone is worth a grand and the lockers (with the air pump and all are worth like 3 grand...my boss stole the thing pretty much...oh yeah 33 inch BFG mudders as well.

Disco II facelift 2003. Did you know the Disco 1 like the 95 looks just like the Disc 2 but 98% of all the parts are different? They are now back to the Disco name. No idea why they went to the LR3 name. BTW stay away from the LR2.

Coming in 2023

egad! that looks horriblelike the bastard son of a Honda Ridgeline and a Ford Ranger....probably has a 3.0 supercharged engine that costs like 1800 for a water pump....run away! Much like Jeep sadly all the new stuff is crap and miles away from where they started. Then again that is all the makes and models. too much complexity which drives the prices up and makes them throw away...like do we really need heated seats with 5 way adjustability and headlights that cost 1000 dollars because they have a control module that communicates with all the other 20 or more computers on the car and gives the headlights the ability to self center, dim by themselves, etc, etc...(fuck no we don't)

*edit* it is also Green
