Northeasterners: What say you of this Mother of all Storms approaching?

I think I suggested that you should meet up with Andy at the pizza place. I didn't mean to imply he owned it. It's across the road from the music academy. Sorry.

oh well.....i guess i didn't get the message right. in my own defense....i WAS watching the ALCS at the time.....and sweeping the Yanks was just a bit preoccupying.

so, you remember that conversation also?? it was one of those "what's happening this week" type threads. i posted that i was in cinci for the week, and someone said..."go to kerouac's pizza shop"....

Actually, I haven't a fargin' clue what you guys are talking about.

I was just making an esoteric Wayne Vinson secretly working in a pizza shop reference.

I'm cerebral like that.

Not to my benefit usually

Check out the facade of the building.

I woke up this morning and I don't hear the wind howling like I did when I went to bed. I didn't lose power but I heard that a bunch of my suburban coworkers did. I'm going to do a walk around in a little while.

lol.

since there's no power south of 39th st in Manhattan, that means our main facility can't open. it wasn't enough that all bridges and tunnels are closed and the subway is half under water, so nobody could actually get there. we are officially closed.

let the drinking commence.

We still have power for now. About 4 inches of snow at the house this morning. Roads getting into work were pretty slick. Mrs. P decided to work from home again.

There's a little less snow in Charleston than we have up on the ridge at our house, but it's still coming down pretty hard.

I did hear on the news this morning that Davis WV has something like 17" of snow on the ground. That's up in the mountains where all the ski resorts are. Unfortunately, the ski resorts aren't open yet.

Glad to hear you came out ok. And it must be time to open those resorts now!

Does Mrs HIAR have to work today? I'm guessing not....

They don't usually open until after Thanksgiving, and I doubt this year will be any different. I mean, we're getting snow now, but it's supposed to be in the 60s by the end of the week.

The ski resorts here rely on artificial snow for the base. To my knowledge, they haven't even started making that yet, since the temps haven't been below freezing even in the mountains.

That said, we rarely get any accumulated snow outside of the mountains this early in the year, so if this is any indication, this year the ski resorts might be able to make up for all the money they didn't make last year when it never snowed.

I was planning on driving back today, but I'm hanging tight till the snow is over. I definitely don't want to sit on 77 waiting for it to reopen.

I'd hold off at least a day. I think the snow is supposed to let up this evening and then it's supposed to start warming up by Thursday.
