thinking of switching to this

what say you?
(keep in mind the guitar above is very aged compared to mine)

Ditching Tort is always the right choice.

Black,Minty Green?
i disagree on the first, but whatever.
i'm not sure that mine is "yellowed" enough to sport the mint pg. it might make the mint guard look too dark on my body.
so.....maybe a aged cream guard.....not sure.

You're on the right track. Mint Green would not look that great on a whiter strat. Olympic White...sure. Cream would be pretty good...that said the tortoise looks great too.

I love the tort. If you don't like it, go for the mint. I think the cream would look strange with the white, kind of screaming how new, un-aged the guitar, pickups, knobs are.

the funny thing is that it is a 2007 guitar. so ten years old. but, from what i can gather, a closet guitar. which is why it came up for sale used (GC).

sorry.....no black pg on it. if it were a black strat, then yea.....david gilmour. but not on oly white, not for me.
There's a site that someone here posted a while back where you can get custom guards made....maybe you could look into that. Design your own or possibly see one you like posted on the site.
Wish I could remember the site or who posted the original link.

I ran across these, all on Olympic White:

Parchment guard (would also require aged pup covers and knobs

Now if it were me, and I was dead set on changing it from the tort (which I think looks great as-is), I'd go with mint. I have that on my Lake Placid Blue CV 60s strat, and it looks great against the white pup covers and knobs.
