Hot or Not? New Luna Vista guitars

Gary Blanchard

beloved, local musician
I don't think I'd play one, but I can appreciate the idea, at least.

1st one come with wolf t-shirt?
That was my first reaction, then that black sky with the moon caught my eye and made it more palatable. I don't think I'd play one of these, but then too, I didn't ever think I'd want a blue guitar, either. :embarrassed:ops:

It amazes me that a guitar company has made a limited-edition guitar that is perhaps the most expensive guitar they have produced, and it is well under $1000. Another reason I love Luna.

I'd have to hear it first, but I like the design of the bird in flight. Coming from the Southwest, it kind of appeals to me. For $699, though, it has to have a great sound to go with the look.

A pretty good price for that level of detail, but no way I would ever play a guitar like that. They are decorations.

Wow, I love the wolf! With that sad, I've got to assume that these are laminate tops... a solid top made from all of those woods would be a nightmare to produce.

Yeah, I agree. Not sure how that would work, actually. Marquetry is an art for sure, but you have to have some kind of backing there.....
It has to be done with veneer "stickers". Still kind of cool, though.

I dig the one with the eagle/condor on it.

I wonder what the impact is on the sound. Very pretty though. Especially the one with the condor. It is the simplest to my eye. Less is more.

It is interesting to me that these are limited editions...100 of each made. This may be a new strategy for Luna; not quite custom build, but limited production could allow for taking more design chances.

One day, maybe there will be a Gary Blanchard signature model. :hippie:

Exactly my 1st thought, too...OTOH, a laminate top isn't always a bad idea, particularily if it's going to be plugged in. Lot of very good sounding Yamaha, Ibanez and Alvarez lam-tops out there!

And, remember, it's designed specifically for stage usage...not likely anyone would choose it to play only for the dog.
