New Guitar Day…a few days late.

Dogsinplastic

avuncular to no one
So after searching for months and coming close on some negotiations, I have acquired a new guitar. I was going back and forth between a long wanted Godin A6 Ultra and a long desired mostly vintage spec Telecaster.

Had settled on a great deal I a new old stock Vintera 50s modified, but was reluctant to pull the trigger. I kept and eye out for the Godin for another week and the right one revealed itself. Was looking for a pre-Richlite model in natural. This one was listed a very good, but looked better in the pics. It finally got here on Friday (FedEx delivery man didn’t know how to use a doorbell on Thursday). Barring some schmutz on a couple of high frets and tarnish on the chrome cover of the neck HB the guitar was in mint condition, like buying new old stock. No fret ware. No picks scrapes. No tiny dings.

Sounds as expected and feels very great in hand. These older versions (2015 fiscal year build) were sent out with and recommended 10-46s w/ an unwound G, but they ship them with and recommend jazz sets, like D’Addario EJ21s (12-52). The tusk saddle is a standard acoustic that is only compensated for the B & E strings. My plan is to drop a set of 12-52s of some sort on there eventually. I was using EJ21s on my acoustics for a while, lasted longer and had a different sound. Supposedly the HB doesn’t read regular acoustic strings well, but I saw a clip of a player that said they got great results with an acoustic set…I’ll do some more research and prolly experiment. Heavier strings will def make it pop more acoustically. It's not a loud or great acoustic voice (I have my actual acoustics for that), but it's already far louder than any of my electrics with the 10s.

Extremely happy with the purchase and the transaction as whole. The only issue is the chops that I've long thought I would play on a guitar like this...they weren't included.

Saw a like from Flam, which reminded me of one of the features that is millimeters from being perfect...tiny little fret markers, so almost not there...
