New Amp Day - Allen Hot Fudge w/ Nuts

Your Worst Nightmare
I was running some errands near one of my favorite guitar shops yesterday, so I obviously had to stop by. They had just gotten this Hot Fudge in the day before, and they weren't asking very much for it. So I plugged it in for about about 30 seconds, and I was SOLD!

Very cool variation on the brownface Fender Deluxe with a beefier power transformer, wicked tremolo, and a "Deep" switch that does something with some components to switch between Fender and Marshall voices. Also, it has 6v6 power tubes right now, but they can be swapped for 6L6 or EL34 tubes, apparently.

It gets most of the way to full volume at about 2 and then starts to break up. I digging that right now, but dayum! It gets LOUD with the volume on 2. I just read somewhere that Input 2 is supposed to be slightly attenuated to compensate for humbuckers. I'll have to try that out when I get a chance.

I'll probably sell my DRRI and Princeton Recording Amp soon. :)

Sweet! I've heard a lot of very good things about Allen amps....mainly from Howie - but still...

Nice!

describes my Trinity Tramp also known as SCAMP.

Switching between 6V6 and 6L6 requires just a flip of a switch.
One of those modes is okay for the EL34 as well. (I forget which now.)
While the SCAMP can take an EL34 without any mods, it's not ideal. However, the fine folks at Trinity have come up with a mod that makes the changes necessary for a more ideal environment for the EL34.

If you switch to EL34, do you have to flip a switch or turn a knob? or??

Just wondering how they accommodate it.

I haz jealous. I have wanted an Allen for at least 10 years. One day I will come up with a justification for why I need one.
