NAD due to an incredible stroke of luck

Horny bag of electric meat
Earlier this week I found a USA Jackson for an incredibly low price at a local pawn shop. I suspect that they confused it with an Indonesian made one. I had it set up and promptly sold it to CME for almost 15x what I paid!!! I was expecting about half of that. I decided to use some of that on a new amp as part of the deal. So I selected this PRS MT-15 head because I got it at a discount with the trade in. I've been wanting an amp with similar specs for quite a while. I'll be selling a couple of other amps to maintain balance. I haven't had much time to fiddle with it, so I'll have a better review in the future.

Nice, congrats on your stroke of luck. Cool looking amp. I've never played through a PRS amp, but I'm guessing it's pretty nice. Any pics of the Jackson that made it possible?

You are so lucky to live near multiple pawn shops run by idiots who will just sell something cheap instead of asking what it is on r/guitars.

Guitar center has some idiots too and you can look online. Got my made in Czech republic Dean Evo. They had it listed as an Evo XM which is way down the totem pole and I believe a bolt on.

It turned out to be a footswitch problem. PRS and Orange footswitches use a different type of switch mechanism than standard Fender type switches. They gave me an Orange footswitch gratis. So yeah, I'll have a better report later, but initial playing tells me that this is a really nice amp.

I ended up returning it. It seems that these amps have problems with time change effects (reverb, delay, chorus, etc) running through the effects loop. Mine was so buzzy that I couldn't use either channel. I didn't need the amp. So I got my money back.

Oh well. You never know until you try.

I have an old passive Radial A/B/Y box. I don’t use it to split signal. I don’t know if it would have solved the noise problem. I use it for the phase selector, ground lift and isolation parts of the circuit. When I run into noise problems, I try running the cables through the B side of the box and the ground lift and/or isolation switches often get rid of any noise.

The phase side is handy when splitting a stereo pedal into the front of two amps because they’re often out of phase. When I played out, I always carried it in my gig bag.

The new version is active and takes 9v power. Since it’s active, I bet it works well for feeding two amps. My passive Radial A/B/Y sounds terrible when used to split to dual amps. Fortunately, I found it was more useful for the other functions. It’s a great tool.

The current, active version….

Sorry. 15x what I paid. Sometimes my brain malfunctions.
Somebody else's brain malfunctioned significantly more than yours which allowed your deal to happen. That's awesome!

This is why I wish I had actual pawn shops around me. Living in suburban North Jersey you either have Guitar Center, some small guitar shops, or you have to go into NYC which is logistically more difficult than it should be for a place that's as close as it is (I'm less than 15 minutes from the Lincoln Tunnel).

Is it a gain thing where the loop send is too high and clipping the pedals in the loop? My JC Amelia had that issue and I got the loop kit to fix it.

What cab were you running it through?

I tried two different 8 ohm cabs. I did some research on this amp. It appears to be a design problem. It's been reported several times online.
