My projects, let me tell you about them

As you surely remember I played in the primary school parents' band last summer. That's now spawned two additional projects: the drummer is mostly a guitarist and his creative endeavours are centred on the recording of a CDs worth of projects of a drummer, who is actually a singer and wants a band to play the project live, so I got the call to try out for that. (I am like the FIRST-CALL BASSIST for my kids primary school go me!)

And another member of the school parents' band is doing a project for a hospice he's associated with and I got the call for that too. (FIRST CALL! FIRST CALL! Probably! I mean he didn't actually SAY he called me first.)

And then my work band which I was kind of suspecting would fade away for lack of personnel when our last guitarists' post-doc contract ran out found another guitarist and is IN DANGER of a new lease of life.

And of course I am still in a weekly djembé class and everyone has for SOME REASON decided to get married and have birthdays and god knows what. I'm blowing off concerts I've had tickets for for months and hoping rehearsals get cancelled and generally wondering why I feel so stressed and run down. It is, for all I know, great but I'm looking forward to at least one project reaching PERMANENT fruition so I can watch TV or something.

My work band’s drummer is mostly a drummer, if we’re talking hobby musicians. (I don’t hang in pro circles.)

Trouble is, this is a densely populated country and they build that way even when it isn’t so an acoustic drum kit is out of the question for most people.
