My brother wears toe shoes

There are dorks in every race, why am I being picked on?
I didn't see fully shaved beavers on there anywhere.

My personal opinions aside, I'd be afraid someone would step backwards and crush me toes.

Even sneakers give you a little protection.

I could see wearing these while snorkeling or something similar since they are basically aquasocks.

Toe shoes are a serious issue. Maybe you need to have an intervention, make it clear to your brother how much he is hurting those who love him. :embarrassed:

I thought those were already out of style. I don't notice anyone wearing them anymore.

They probably went out of style so quickly because they never really WERE in style, mostly because they look stupid. Just my opinion--which is correct in this case.

I remember a couple years ago when the toe shoe were being pushed as great minimalist running shoes - mainly by Vibram. I had several friends buy into that and use them for running. Without exception every single one of them got injuries from wearing them. To the point that Vibram was sued for false claims, and they paid and retracted those claims. They make nice aqua shoes. Aside from that ---- no thank you.

This was my experience as well. Those toe shoes and pretty much any minimalist running shoe really caught on for a while, and then everybody wearing them got injured. Then maximalist shoes got popular.

I experimented with minimalist shoes (never the toe shoes though). They never did much for me. I like a nice, light, comfortable running shoe that offers a little padding and protection to the soles of my feet.

I was extremely happy with my Vibrams. I rarely go over 12 miles a week, though. I know a lot of hardcore runners do that in a day.

When I tried running in "normal" shoes, my left knee and hip cramped. I went back to the Vibrams and they were fine.

I just picked up a pair of Altra Zero-Drop shoes because the Vibrams are wearing out. They have a wide toe box and flat heel angle so they feel very much like Vibrams. My first 3 mile run with them last night was pretty good. I don't like that they're heavier than the Vibrams but I love not needing special socks.
