My bass arrived yesterday....

Denverdave

Resident Ragamuffin
It was in a bit rougher shape than the pictures showed, but still pretty good for a 20 something year old bass..

The only gotcha is that the neck has a semi significant forward bow. I tried to adjust the truss rod, but the adjustment screw at the top does not fit a Allen wrench. It is a smooth round hole. So either it is totally stripped (which will really piss me off) or the truss rod adjustment is under the pickguard. I didn't have time to check that yesterday and I didn't want to take the strings off yet. I'll check tonight...

Hopefully the truss rod adjustment isn't stripped...I'm not sure there's anything you can do at that point...

I'd have to buy a new neck and hope to heck it will fit the neck pocket well....

Bummer about the truss rod....if it's really stripped.

You have pics?

FWIW, a depending on whether it's a single acting or double acting truss rod, a good luthier may be able to get the old nut off and replace it with a non-stripped one for pretty cheap. That's only if it's a single acting rod though. If it's a double acting rod, that nut won't come off, and I think you'd have to remove the fretboard and replace the whole rod...which probably wouldn't be worth it.
