Making a cajon out of a wine box?

Poor old Geordie's array...

Looking for a bit of advice from folk that maybe play cajon or know someone who does. I've wanted one for a while and quite like the idea of making my own. I'm rubbish with tools so building one from scratch is a no no and getting a kit is a bit of a cop out (and a pubic hair cheaper than buying a built one new so what's the point?) Thus I came across the idea of using something like a wine box to make one as it would involve minimal DiY.

Is there any reason why I wouldn't be able to take a wine box like the one above, put a thinner top on it, stick a snare in it and use it as a cajon? I'm not too fussed about the sound quality (it's for my huge orchestra band thing which is very forgiving to cheap instruments) and I'm sure one of the boxes could take my weight.

Anything I'm missing?

I think cajons have more percussive versatility than anything else you can carry as easily (and worry about less). I don't know if the wine box will work, but I know that you'd only be out about $5 and 45 minutes if you tried it and it didn't happen. Let me know how it goes. I was just about to build one myself when I started a band w/ a dude who has one, so now I just borrow his.

I've heard some pretty amazing cajon playing...to the point where you'd forget that the guy was playing a box.

Besides, making "a box" musical is a pretty cool skill to have.
