Mad Season vs Temple of the Dog vs The Traveling Wilburys

Self chosen pain? Bread stolen from the mouths of decadence? Over exposed and commercialized?

Three bands enter, one band leave.

First thought is TotD but I was listening to Artificial Red on the way to work this morning and Mad Season has a fighting chance here.
I don't hate Traveling Wilburys but they are misplaced in this battle.

None of the above. Their respective main bands were all far better than the 'super group' efforts imo. But if I had to listen to one, it'd prb be mad season for Lane and Mark's vocals

Calling TotD a supergroup is a bit misleading, since it was released months before PJ released 10. Mother Love Bone wasn't exactly a household name outside of the PNW. Still, it was an awesome amalgamation of talent and a damn fine record. I'll go with them.

I think the Temple of the Dog album is a masterpiece.

I enjoyed the Wilburys, but while fun the material is nowhere near the quality of their respective outside projects. Semantically, they are the only real "super" group of listed. Harrison, Petty, Dylan, Orbison...holy shit is all I'm saying. The RnR hame of fame doesn't really mean anything/carry any weight, but all of these guys are in there and all made significant impacts on rock/popular music. I'm not sure any supergroup comes close from that perspective. I remember Petty talking about it back when first came out, how he was living the dream. Imagine whoever your Dylan and Harrison are wanting to play with you...the honor and validation (also ego boost).

Temple is just Chris singing w/ PJ...yeah, Matt's there too, but that had more to do w/ drummer issues for MLB & PJ (obviously before Cameron got the gig). Mad Season never appealed to me...they just didn't catch my ear.
