M-tone TKO

Everything you’ve come to expect from an M-tone guitar is now available in this much-loved iconic shape. This classic single-cut first saw the light of day in 1949. As a tribute to that era of unprecedented invention, M-tone Guitars is making a limited run of 49 of these awesome instruments.

Each numbered and signed guitar includes a hand carved bird’s eye maple neck with a gorgeous rosewood fingerboard. The swamp ash bodies each have an original, one-of-a-kind finish design. The thin, tone transparent, deep grain velvet finish feels and looks super sexy while letting the tone of the wood shine through. As always, every M-tone is an individual creation and no two guitars are alike.

TKO #1
This beauty is number 1 of 49. It has a big, fat super comfortable Birdeye Maple neck with a nice dark Rosewood board. The Lollar 52 in the bridge gives the guitar a really nice open high end. The Royal T in the neck lands in some great territory between a traditional T and an S-type neck pickup. The Swamp Ash body gives a great forward attack. And damn, this thing looks good with its deep grain finish. Just check out the way the awesome Swamp Ash grain shows on the back. Can’t go wrong with Black Paisley over Seafoam either.

Should have left the top painted.
Love the thick birdseye neck that should be all maple.

I'm not opposed to the individual elements (apart from that broken foot they call a headstock) but I don't know if I like them together.

That paisly body with a black or white pickguard would look sharp... but that aged hardware should be on a vintage looking body... and the neck shouldn't be so "pretty".

I wanted to like it coming in here. But don't. That paisly is just not pulled off well. Looks like a hobby project that grandma made.

Sort of like some home sewn corduroy pants back in the seventies.

Paint scheme - Yes
Relic-y pickguard and switchplate - No
Headstock - No
Price - No
Covering up a gorgeous neck/fretboard with rosewood - No

So I guess it's a No for me.

I love Matt and his guitars, he's a great cat who is extremely creative... BUT I love his creativity on his original models. I hate seeing anyone who builds such great unique models just coping out another straight T or S shape.

Aside from the lumpy phallus headstock I think this one is hella cool. It would be a great stage guitar for a glam/drag band.

It's the reliced hardware that kills it for me. To me, it just feels like it's a guitar that can't decide between glamor and grunge.

The pickguard and hardware ruin it for me.

What would've been cool is if the pickguard was seafoam paisley over black.

I like the pickguard and hardware, and also the pickups.
Id prefer a more tradtional headstock.
The Paisley/Seafoam ain't working for me.
So nah, not that kind of money for something Id wanna refinish and reshape the headstock, lol.
