Question: Looking for a luthier in PGH

I recently relocated from South Florida to Pittsburgh PA. I don’t know many people in the area but there seems to be a fairly vital music scene. Very friendly folks. I’ve discovered Empire Music and Pittsburgh Guitars. I would like to know if anybody could recommend a good guitar tech / luthier in this area? I live in south side/Brentwood area. I’m not in urgent need but a good acoustic set-up is in my future.
Also I’ve come across a problem I never had in Florida. Static electricity. The dry cooler air probably has something to do with it. When I play an electric with a full top pick guard, like a Fender. My fingers moving on the top causes an audible popping sound from the static. The guitar is double grounded (cavity and bridge) with some (not completely) sticky foil stuff on the inside of the PG. I think I saw a simple solution for this problem here some years ago. Thanks for your advice in these matters.

Honestly, you can’t hurt to ask workers at your local music shop. They have to deal with customers coming in regularly asking for help for things that they’re not equipped or trained to handle.

Might not have any luck, but nothing lost.

As for the static.... you will likely need a room or whole house humidifier in the winter, and possibly de-humidifier in the summer.

I would also invest in a humidity sensor ($30-50) to put in the case or on the wall of your music room, this one actually has a sponge in it to help maintain the correct humidity. (and if you weren't already a Sweetwater fan... the mecca is only 4 or 5 hours from you now.

i know this is kind of a bit out of your way, but if you need serious guitar work done (re-frets/refin/fix the broken LP neck/etc.)
Lays in Akron is one of the best in the mid-atlantic/mid-west. they are also an authorized gibson and fender and martin factory repair shop.
just throwing it out there.
