Question: Leaving negative feedback and opening a dispute on eBay

jbj

Poor old Geordie's array...
Just wondering exactly how this goes down.

I bought a wireless mic from eBay last week. It was cheap so I wasn't expecting a professional unit, just something to speak through when I'm djing and let people use for speeches but the build quality and noise this this thing puts out is a joke, you couldn't even use it for a living room karaoke machine.

I messaged the guy yesterday with my problems namely:

the power cord is hard wired to the receiver but there's a short somewhere so you have to fiddle around with it to power the thing up

the receiver range as stated in the manual is under 1/3rd of what it stated in the eBay listing, not that I got a chance to test it out properly

the >1% noise interference claim is total bullshit as you can't make out a thing over the static noise, crackles and pops when it's run through a PA even at a fairly quiet volume

there's some sort of grounding problem with the thing too as even when it's switched off, if you touch the reciever or any part of the plug or wire or turn on the mic it still makes a pop or scratching noise through the PA

These issues to warrant a refund if you ask me.

I messaged the company yesterday and have had nothing back so I've sent them another one saying if I've not heard back by tomorrow, I'm leaving negative feedback and opening a dispute with Paypal and eBay.

I've never had to leave negative feedback before, is it pretty much a given that he'll tag me back with negative feedback too?

What about the eBay and Paypal dispute? It's already gone through on my credit card so I don't know how that works since I've never had to do that either.

what was the guy's return policy? I have a solidly written return policy based on my past experiences, and I don't buy from anyone who refuses returns because they're usually trying to unload junk.

He takes returns though why I should have to pay postage to return a complete POS that's not fit for purpose is anyones guess.

I don't mind taking a dump shipping the crap back to him but I'm not doing it until he responds telling me to do so.

Guy got back to me within an hour saying he'd give me a refund and pay for the shipping. Strange that huh?

He went on to say that the unit had great reviews from his customers so I must have got a dud. This thing is a complete piece of crap and feels dangerous to operate too so I find that highly unlikely unless people are just using them in cheap karaoke systems.

The annoying thing is, after a quick bit of googling, I've found a shop in town selling a Kam wireless mic new for £30.

Wow. Good experience in the end with the seller. Not always how it goes down. I bought a digital 8 track on ebay once and when I got it a few of the buttons were nonfunctional and at least one of the lines was dead...the seller's response was that I didn't know how to use it and he can't be responsible for my lack of education in that area.

Whatever.

Yeah hopefully. I won't be chilling out completely until I get the refund. It's not a huge amount but I still don't want to waste money on a complete piece of crap.

There's no way it was damaged in shipping btw, the box is pristine and if nothing else was done right with the unit, it was packed and shipped decently.
