Keyboard quality reveals ham-fisted lack of skill

Well, there's a surprise, eh?

But a question, just in case someone here has some insight.

I have a Waves Rhapsody Grand Piano plug in, and a Korg Taktile 47 MIDI controller. The Waves Plug in is great - decent sounds, controls, etc. Also fond of the Korg. BUT - when I use them together, there is a lot of 'play' in the velocity of the Piano - and it reveals my utter lack of touch with a keyboard.

Anyone have any insight into how I might use ADSR settings or others to make the key strokes more 'generic' when it comes to velocity?

Stupid question since I'm unfamiliar with these products. Are they weighted keys? I really really struggle with keyboard without weighted keys.

No, not stupid, I should've written that in. They are NOT weighted, but apparently they are super-sensitive. In other words, not weighted, but not as cheesy as some non-weighted keys.

I can't afford a weighted-key thing right now, and I'm also kinda-sure I would sound just-as-bad on that?

They really do help. I learned to play piano as a kid. I'm not a great player but I can get by. That being said The lack of feedback makes things exponentially more difficult. They would probably help a lot.

Should be an easy thing to adjust or even disable the velocity curve in the software. I've yet to meet a VSTi that didn't allow for that in the options menu.

You’re asking for help and then post that in this thread?

Also, I goofed and put it in the wrong thread. Which you knew.

C'mon, I'd help you (you good for nothing .... mumble mumble ....)

Yep.

And worst case, you can always go in and edit velocity for the midi after recording it (which is what I usually do).

I thought about that. Makes me worry given that it's an unstructured melodic counterpoint. In other words, sounds like a lot of work.
