Just got my Bugera PS1... you need one too!!!!

I think mine was delivered today... I'm currently 4 hours from home, so I'll test it out this weekend.

That said.... a power soak was an essential part of making an old marshall I used in college work properly. Without it, the amp was either too loud, or too clean.

I'm interested if the XLR works like a GOOD mic emulator... or at the bare minimum if that could be run into a cab sim and have a cool direct sound.

I also want to try it out between a bass head and amp.

For that kind of $$ you can't beat it.

Yeah, I didn't even need it right now.... but it's a great piece of gear to have around.

I'm thinking that when I go to record with some buddies, we can have some fun with some vintage amps that he has.

@mystixboi1 I am reading that even at 100 on the indicator, that it attenuates the signal a bit.... just in case you ever need to rip loose with the full volume.... but quite honestly, who in their right mind ever does that. :lmbo:

And for full disclosure, any kind of power soak is not exactly "eco-friendly" because you're essentially wasting extra electricity to get the tubes and the transformers humming along in their sweet spot.... and then just stepping down the power that actually makes it to the speaker, to keep your ears from bleeding.

It just turns that extra power into heat that it sheds off the top of the unit.... so maybe if you live in a small studio apartment, I suppose you could use it as a very inefficient space heater.... but you are saving your neighbors from "sound polution" :baimun:

To update my comments above... According to Phillip McKnight, the units DON'T get warm. That's crazy to me, because the old Tom Sholtz power soak I used all those years ago would singe your arm if you brushed up against it during a gig.

Also, he says that the unit attenuates by about HALF when plugged in, and then you dial it from there... I haven't tested mine yet to confirm.

But if you don't want to watch the whole vid... he gives it a 5 star rating.

If he got it as cheap as Mys and I did... he'd prob give it a 5 1/2 out of 5.

I went ahead and bought one. I’m planning to get into playing again next year and a power soak would let me crank up an Orange/Matamp head. I’ve been thinking about having Matamp build me a 20 watt head but even that would need an attenuator at home.

Oh fuck yeah…. A built in power soak is what distinguishes the Thunderverb from the other Matamp and Orange models… so it should work excellent with that amp!!!

Mine arrives Dec 2nd.
I will finally be able to get some tubes cooking.
Great price too.

Mine arrives tomorrow if I can believe FedEx.
It was originally set for Friday delivery.

Mine came this afternoon. Now I need to get a new head and cab. I can score a used Tiny Terror and a 1x12 for under $700.

I have a Jet City Jettenuator that looks exactly like this except for the color scheme. It’s great

I got mine today.
I like that I can get the Princeton into overdrive.
Looks like I'll be using that amp without pedals for a while.

My other amps have a master volume,so I haven't tried the PS1 with them yet.

I got mine today too, but Ive got too much going on to even open the box today.

OK... I spent some time with it. I was using it on the high gain channel of my Marshall with the volume on the amp set to around 7. I set the volume on the PS1 to conversation volume. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, but it pulls out a lot of low end. I started messing with lowering the amp volume to 3 or 4 and turning down the PS1. 3 or 4 on this amp is still crazy loud so the PS1 helped. More importantly, I got a lot of the low end back.

That’s interesting. All the attenuators I’ve used pull out the high end. The Weber even has a switch to add highs back in to compensate for it.
