So then,

Has anyone had positive experience with having these types of stress cracks repaired?

How was it done and are you happy with the repair?

The problem is that the body is made of basswood... and the heel is thin. Even if it split completely apart and was epoxy'd, it'll break again elsewhere.

my money is on finish crack only. If it was in the wood it would split even with the bottom of the neck pocket (where it'd be weakest) not down and laterally.

I'have to entertain the idea of splining it to stabilize the weak spot...but that would require a refinish...if that's a strat you may be able to get a replacement body...in the long run that may end up being a cheaper and wiser investment...

They all have this. It's only a problem if it moves around to the back. Steve Vai's Evo has a crack almost all the way to the back of the body, and it's held up after nigts and nights of abuse.

i have a small one but its a thin nitro coat + tight neck pocket. yours looks like it has a gap which is odd.

either way I wouldnt worry about it.
