Jazz Baths

Since we got the new house with a great big old tub, I’ve gotten in the habit of taking baths quite frequently. I’m doing the thing all the way, drinks, candles, and music.

Mark’s lesson dissecting a Miles Davis solo happened to coincide with one such bath. I’ve since done a few with Miles, Thelonious Monk, and Herbie Hancock. Looking for more recommendations. Not looking for elevator music, but also don’t want a Bitches Brew type is situation either. That seems like it would get messy with water splashing everywhere.

Please keep your pissing in the sink comments to yourself. I don’t care.

Speaking of...

Have you seen the article on Jarrett in today's NY Times? Seems he may never be able to perform again...
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/21/arts/music/keith-jarrett-piano.html

The two duet records he made with Charlie Haden a few years ago were among Haden’s last before his death, and (I think) among Jarrett’s most recent releases. If those are his last, then they’d be a fine way to end his career.

The Melody at Night With You would also make for really great bathtub listening.

I think that these would all make fantastic choices.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Made a Spotify playlist if anyone is interested. I left the Tony Bennet stuff off for this purpose, but will check it out.

Not quite bath time, but closed out the day on a job site listening to Beautiful Music. I very rarely make my subs turn off the same Skynard radio stations they’ve been listening to their whole lives. They think I’m weird but tolerate me when I make these demands, because I am technically the boss.

My favorite quote was “man, that’s kinda different, but kinda cool too.” Personally, I would go further. The piano and fiddle (maybe I should refer to this as violin), are gorgeous and lush without being overbearing. Looking forward to bath time!

I would say Pharoah Sanders ”The Creator has a Master Plan” with a glass of Alsace Riesling.

The 2 minutes of chaos on the intro does not a good jazz bath make, but once it settles down, I could see this being a contender.

Bonus points for the marimba and the fact that it’s one track. 1 jazz bath, 1 track. I dig it.

Admittedly, I haven’t listened to all 30 minutes but will report back. Thanks for the recommendation!

edit: minus points for vocals.
