Dig it! Jack White's SNL telecaster

Most of the noise about his appearance focused on his use of an EVH guitar, but I was much more interested in the tele he used in his first song - it was daphne blue (or something similar) with a poopknife and a TV Jones (or something similar) in the neck position. Sounded mahvelous!

Meanwhile, on TDPRI, all of the grumpy old men are carrying on about how much they dislike Jack White. If he pisses off that crowd, I figure he's doing something right!

You knew this was coming

And just because.
Nothing to see here. Just Jimmy playing Whole Lotta Love

I can't help you with details on that Tele but I just wanted to commiserate about how TDPRI used to actually be a pretty cool place until Paul Green businessfied it with a heavy hand.

The amazing part about this clip is anyone sitting there watching Page play Whole Lotta Love would have exactly the same look on their face. I had it and I was watching them watching him on tv. Imagine being in the room. You’re 13 years old and there’s nothing you can do.

If you don't like Jack White's guitar playing you're an old wanker? I guess that's me then. I've always thought it was hilarious that the 3 most overrated guitarists IMO got together to make a guitar video.

I liked it too, his performance as well (I won't say his playing, because Jack is a performer and it's more about the energy). I won't argue about Page being overrated (except in Influence), but the Edge? Come on, for what he does he's aces. His fans aren't there for the blazing fretboard skills, and he's hella consistent. Half the folks hate him anyways.

I've never been a fan, but the snl bit I saw was top notch.

As to the OP, I just watched a YouTube series wherein JW goes through a series of mods he's doing to a guitar. I'm not sure if it's that guitar, and of course I don't remember what channel it was on, but a little searching should turn it up.

I actually I think it's the opposite. The White Stripes were a fun band with a lot of memorable songs.

His stuff now is kind of boring choogle fests and whammy pedal solos. I can't remember a single one of his songs after it's over.

I disagree. Every band and project post White Stripes I've dug a whole lot more (especially Dead Weather!)

Exactamundo!

I would be seeing this....

I recorded SNL and watched it the next morning and I really like his performance. Mike Portnoy posted like it was just out of this world but, I didn't see anything that made me want to fall out my chair. I just enjoy it because they had someone the was playing the guitar.

I believe the tele is a modded Highway One.

As to @Kerouac and his incorrect opinions, Jack White was most interesting when he was doing his Banana Splits meets Led Zeppelin crossed with T. Rex garage sale Twee blues thing with the Stripes. The Dead Weather are somewhat interesting because Alison Mosshart and fuzz pedals and kinda in spite of Jack White. The Raconteurs suck out loud. And Jack’s solo career is mostly trash. It’s like John Mayer pulling a Chris Gaines type stunt.
