Question: is Destroyer by Kiss a good album, or a great album?

Good, great, something else, who knows? It does contain my favorite Kiss song. Until today, I hadn't heard the full version since elementary school.

I was in the 4th grade. The cool kid from the 6th grade broght his tape recorder to school and played Detroit Rock City over and over. The car crash at the end is thrilling.

Full version. Has the intro story.

I always felt Kiss were geared towards children, with their scary guy costumes, fake blood, and action figures. One of their albums even contained a toy Love Gun inside. Is this a rock album, or a box of Cap'n Crunch?

I had the original Love Gun pressing with the cardboard gun! I'd forgotten all about that. And the inner sleeve had Kiss spelled out in pools of blood, right? And some flyer for the Kiss Army merch. I know Alive II had the order form where you could your poster or belt buckle or whatever they were hocking because I ended up getting that poster.

You hold it and bring your arm down in a swift motion, and it would say 'BANG!'. My friend had the album.

I wasn't buying records at that age, so I made my own.

Had to listen to the album on the way to/way home from my brothers tonight.

It's a decent album, with the KISS classics of Detroit Rock City, God Of Thunder, Shout It Out Loud, and Beth.

On most songs, you can here some strings and such in the background. I think KISS works better as a stripped-down glam band like on their debut album.

Song #4, Great Expectations, sounds like they are trying to copy The Beatles, with the strings and song structure. Not sure it works for KISS. The song Beth too, alot of strings on that, and I think the live version that is stripped down to just piano & voice works better.

I had the Alive albums and then got all the rest with the 12 albums for a penny thing. I didn’t care for the studio albums as much.

No love for 'King of the Night Time World' or 'Do You Love Me'? I think they're the best ones.

IMHO this is the Best Kiss release.

That said - it is a good album. They never put out a great album. They did their thing really, really well and marketed themselves masterfully. They are a good rock band whose sales and fame far, far exceeded their talent.
