"The crystals are like a complete food -- they have proteins, fats and sugars. If you look into the protein sequences, they have all the essential amino acids," Sanchari Banerjee, one of the main researchers, told the Times of India.

Cockroach milk is not just a wellspring of nutrients, it is also a "time-released food," added lead study author Subramanian Ramaswamy, meaning that once the crystals' protein is digested, more proteincontinues to be released through the body at a steady rate.

The pesky bug is actually filled with an energy-rich milk-like substance. It's not your typical non-dairy milk alternative like almond milk

I don’t even like cow’s milk, so the chances I will try this: 0.0%

Those researchers need to be shot on pay per view.

I've noticed the little ants that have started showing up with the warmer weather (the local argentine ants, I assume) have a realllly interesting smell when you squish 'em. kinda like blackberries mixed with magic marker. I'm very tempted to try to eat one to see if they taste as interesting as they smell.

that said, cockroach milk doesn't have a whole lot of appeal to me
