Incoming from Sweetwater

Kick Henry Jackassowski
Sweetwater just sent me images of the new guitar I bought for my daughter. We went with a white SG because that’s what Samantha Fish plays. Apparently the 55 point inspection at Sweetwater doesn’t cover knobs. Hopefully the sales rep will check his email before it ships.

White SGs are the only ones where I don't mind the batwing guard...usually a deal breaker, but on the white it looks wicked sharp.

BTW, they seem to have made this one upside down...wasn't sure if you'd noticed...:thu:

Gibson probably has the SG pickguard shapes trademarked.

I still can't believe that Gibson & Fender didn't think to secure the rights to EVERYTHING they ever designed, even if they never manufactured all of it. The lack of foresight related to IP was crazy back then. Or, maybe, they were just cooler and thought better of each other, in that they assumed/believed their peers would NOT steal their designs...

Also remember, when all of this started, people said rock and roll would never last. They probably thought they’d be out of business (or not making electric guitars) at any minute. No sense wasting money on a lawyer to file all that paperwork.

But the Tele and Les Paul were not made for rock 'n roll, despite eventually becoming stalwarts of the genre. Country & jazz were the first targets, but blues was another place where they found a home...all well established genres. I'd argue it was too easy to quickly file the paper and provide an actual instrument as proof of concept. It's funny how modern copyright law is so much easier for and generally in favor of original IP...

It arrived yesterday and the bad knob was fixed. And it’s a nice guitar. Fit and finish are excellent. Epiphone builds a hell of a guitar for $499.
