Ibanez SDGR SR500 bass

My kid just found one neglected in the Value Village store in her town (Bellingham) for $90. A broken string, and there appears to be some paint on some of the parts that somebody added at some point that needs to get cleaned off, but seems like a decent deal for $90. It was made in Korea, not Indonesia, so must be a little older. I think they are made by Cort.

goopy looking red paint and a broken string, and dust, and of course setting it up again. And she will clean out the electronics with some Deoxit. But, for $90, better than the crappy bass she has, and she likes a little project. It looks like it has active pickups.

I'm not familiar with the different models in the SR line, but their necks are so easy to play. My first 'good' bass was from the SR series back in the late 80s.

The Soundgear line are the Artcore of bass. Solid instruments that have crap resale value which is great for people who know how to save money by buying used.

I think Maxine will get some satisfaction also from finding it cheap, and rescuing it from the local Value Village. She likes to futz with stuff and work on things.

I'd probably have picked that up, too. Based on my experience, that red is fingernail polish. It's always fingernail polish.
Well then, a little carefully applied fingernail polish, after removing the parts, should take care of that! As I said, she was already planning on deoxit-ing it, and cleaning it all up. I don’t think she really knows about neck relief and all that, but I am sure I can help her figure it out.

HNBD to your daughter. Tell me more about Value Village. There was a Value Village in Watseka, Illinois @Peen Simmons but, it was like a mini version of Walmart, only new merchandise.

Value Village is a Puget Sound area thrift/second hand store. Not a guitar or music store, just a thrift store. In college, during the 80's, we would sometimes shop for clothes there, along with the military surplus stores, for navy pea coats, cargo pants, etc. The other main store like that up in the area is the Goodwill.

Apparently, it is Bellevue, WA based, and is known as Value Village in the PNW, and Savers elsewhere in the country. For profit, not associated with a charity of any kind.

We don't have them in Idaho. Here, we have Deseret Industries, seeing as southern Idaho is a suburb of Utah culturally. Deseret is Mormon.
