Dig it! I Tonya....

Why is that ignoramus in the spotlight again? It's the same as if a movie about OJ comes out, and the actor studies and admires the subject. He's a killer. She was complicit in some mentally challenged plot to assault and cripple a nice girl. Sorry, I don't get it, not interested, and have a clear memory of the actual events in the news when it all unfolded.

If I'm missing some big revelation in the movie let me know. But I seriously doubt it.

Yeah, she wasn’t complicit! She didn’t know what her abusive jackhole of a husband was going to do, or actually do it. So, yeah, yer probably living on old memories of pre-internet gossip and the molding of her by radio DJs that had to make fun of someone. I was, anyway.

So the "movie" corrected all of the misinformation from her quotes in the news

Which quotes? Her admission of guilt? Could you point me to those? Serious, I’m foggy on that, but if I remember correctly, which is a longshot, she didn’t cop to it, and put the blame on her ex.

Nancy, of course, didn’t. She’s even ok with Tonya. ...though I’m sure she has a bit of a hardon for The ex and his friends...

There was an interview show with Tonya on last night. She still says she never heard anything about them attacking Kerrigan but that she heard them talking about "maybe we need to make sure someone is taken out so that she makes the team". She says this was a month or a couple of months before the attack and that she went to them and said "what are you talking about!? I can skate."

She also says that she won't let her mother near her kid - she has never even met him and she says that it's to protect the kid. As far as her mother's claims that she never did the things that Tonya says she did, Tonya says "take a lie detector be-otch. I will."

One interesting/curious part is that Tonya still skates multiple times per week and is still pretty good.

More than anything else, Tonya is guilty of being a bit of a ditz and trusting her ex-husband to be her manager. If anything Tonya may have known about a plan to send anonymous 'death threats' to Nancy to shake her up a bit (which had happened to Tonya). But only maybe. And that never happened.

It would be nice to know the absolute truth about what happened, but this film seems to let the known facts drive the story, while editing it into a film. My wife is a absolute figure skating fanatic and said it fits very well for the most part with established facts. Tonya's manager and his friend planned what happened and the friend hired the idiot who attempted to take out nancy's knee. Thank goodness all she got was bad bruise and was back on the ice in a few days. Tonya was found complicit mainly do to the fact it was her 'team' that planned and ordered it. She was the least guilty of the bunch but suffered by far the greatest punishment. This is not saying she is an angel - the film paints a pretty realistic picture of who she was, a incredibly talented athlete who happened to be a poor redneck with an abusive Mom and bad taste in men.

Nancy was a prissy stuck-up princess type, but she did not deserve what happened.

How odd that a potential criminal doesn't just fess up on TV.

I pretty much dislike everything related to figure skating and women's gymnastics as they exist in the rarified world of the Olympics. It's just another prurient mechanism for exploiting the sexuality of young women for ratings. After reading the book "Little Girls in Pretty Boxes: The Making and Breaking of Elite Gymnats and Figure Skaters" I want nothing more to do with this sort of objectivication and exploitation. I believe that the Larry Nassar situation is probably the tip of the iceberg...
