I thought this was a cool comparison of a Rasmus vs. Suhr Guthrie Govan model.

the Suhr is just awful looking, what were they thinking with the finish?

tbh I'm with Peeker, couldn't tell a whole lot of difference but the Rasmus certainly looks better

and I play paranoid a lot differently to the guy in the video

Me either. They aren't making much of a case for spending a lot more money on the real deal.

there's only so much money you can spend on sound. at some point the difference is because of feel, which you can't tell from a video, and then the "feel good" aspects of the purchase MIA/boutique/good company, etc.

Very true, and I wasn't really expecting to hear much of a difference. I does make you wonder why they would put up this video in the first place.

it was for the TGP crowd, who are very anti-imports. a few had some choice words for Mr. Suhr because of his expansion via import. IMO, this video is really to show that a Chinese guitar can be built to a high standard, and that you likely can't tell the sonic difference. so if you want to buy a $4000 model, then go for it. otherwise, there's a more affordable import option. it's a huge argument that's been going on in this industry since the 60s. quality has skyrocketed in the past 10 years, but there's still a lot of old convictions out there.

Not everyone can afford a $4000 guitar. The Rasmus line seems like a great option for someone that would like a Suhr but couldn't afford the USA version. Anything can be built to a high standard regardless of where it is made provided it is built to a standard. If I recall correctly I believe they do the same thing as Reverend by have the imports shipped to them and the US facility doing the setup inspection and QC. If that is the case I wouldn't be concerned about the quality of the imports at all. It doesn't do Suhr any good to put out a shitty guitar, and from my limited knowledge of their business practices I have no doubt they would only put out a quality product. Anyone towing the "anything imported is crap" line is a moron.
