Question: I need a little RC-20XL help: Will not record.

BlackCat

American Greaser
I pulled this thing out of the box where it's been sitting for a couple of years. I recorded a couple of loops and it was working fine. At this point I may have screwed something up because I didn't reread the manual to refresh my memory and was pushing pedals more or less at random. Now I can't record anything new and I can't hear anything previously recorded.

I power cycled the pedal
Level and inst pots are half way up.
I can hear the metronome through the amp.

1. Input set to inst&mic
2. Select an empty phase.
3. Press the left pedal: the record LED does not come on.
4. Press the left pedal: the playback LED does not come on.
5. No playback on any phase.

I'm probably a knuckle head but I've already searched the manual without success. I found a Roland pdf of factory reset procedures but it doesn't include the RC-20XL

I'm reading online that faulty power adapters can cause malfunctioning while still supplying power. Batteries or a new adapter fix it supposedly.

If you pressed both pedals down at the same time, do the LED's flash?

Some of them do. The loop quantize, write, and exit LEDs flash. The record and play LEDs don't.

Also I noticed the stuff about the power supply but I'm using batteries.

Well crap. You're right, I searched for about an hour last night for a reset procedure for you, found one for every model but that one.

Thanks Dude!

At least I know I'm not loosing my marbles.

I'm going to email their help desk. (which I notice is open like three days a week).

Just in case I can't resolve this issue can I get some recommendations for a low end looper?

I don't need any advanced features. It's strictly for home use. Working out solos and such.

I tried it without anything plugged into the instrument input. Record and playback lights came on as expected. Plugged in the guitar: nothing.

It seems to work (more or less) with the guitar plugged into the mic input.
