I have a Fender deluxe players Strat That I got a couple years ago at a really great price. I have been moddong it quite a bit since then. Last year, I did a relic job on the Sunburst finish. I actually liked it quite a bit but over time, I liked it less and less. I found a guy on a Facebook group that specializes in doing swirls on Guitars. I sent him a picture of a metallic purple finish and asked if he could do it. He said that he could so I took a chance. A couple months later, this is what I got back.
The guitar plays absolutely fantastic and sounds wonderful. Unfortunately, there are some finish flaws that are pretty bad like sanding through the finish all the way to the wood and shipping the body back to me in bubble wrap before the top coat fully cured so the finish itself had large bubble wrap imprints. I spoke to the painter and he agreed to redo the entire finish. I just sent the body back yesterday so I have to get it in a couple months. To be honest, I don’t mind the wait as long as it is done right.
