I’m staining a guitar with shoe polish

Well actually leather dye. Going for a blue/black, kind of like crow feathers. Then clear over. Not sure if satin or gloss yet. Maybe even wipe on poly.

The guitar is a 24.5” scale Hemi. Black hardware. Maple neck with ebony inlays. Routed for a single coil middle. Pickguard is only routed for the two Lace Hemi’s.

The body is spalted alder.

I mixed blue and black leather dye and applied with the included wand. Looks cool. Can you see the blue in there?

After it dried I mixed a little more. This time almost all blue with just a little black. It turned a bronze color. :(

Sanding off tomorrow for round two. Lol

I’ll report back after another try.
 
So far I really like the look. The stain looks almost purple in the darker wood streaks and the blue comes through in the angled shots, both of which are super neato
