how to secure a tele switch tip on

here are two ways:

1. a piece of rubber band laid across and then smush the tip down on top of it.
only trick is you want the proper length as to not leave any sticking out (see 3rd pic. you could trim this with a razor or just redo with shorter rubber band piece)

2. take a small pliers and bend the metal a tad, you want a little burr
in the metal which will grab onto the plastic tip. then gently hammer the tip on with the rubber handle of pliers.

you should now be able to pick the guitar up by
the tip its on so well.

Thanks for this. The switch tip on my strat keeps falling off. I did the rubber band trick and its on there very tight. Thank you!

I've bought a few guitars recently with the switch tip missing. When I tried to replace it, they just fell right off. Until I glued them on, of course.

I use that tacky putty that is used To hang posters on a wall. Just a tiny bit in the tip seems to hold it. I use the same for loose knobs.

This is very nice but who of you actually knocks the cap off on a regular basis?

I think I'm on the third tip of my McFeely. I told Mark at pragestock that if I kept losing them I was going to switch to little legoheads so I could at least find them after they came off.

I've never bothered replacing my tele tip after losing it right after I got the guitar. Don't really miss it. :embarrassed:

I use a tiny bit of crazy glue. I don't often have to change those switches out, and if I do, you can still get the tip off.

I always took a pair of diagonals and made a little notch on each side of the switch shaft so it would grab the tip. I'll see if I can grab a good pic of what I mean.
