How familiar are you with Dirty Loops???

Funkasaurus Rex
I've listened to them a bit over the past few years, but always the ones with one of my favorites... Cory Wong.

But last week I started digging into their trio tracks and FOOOK.... have we been sleeping on these monsters?

This 7 minute adventure starts as a pop banger... then has an amazing jazz departure in the middle... and just when you think it's the big finish...

... they come back and the drummer lays down some of the sickest flams and machine gun rudiments I've ever heard.

This weekend I think I watched a half dozen reactions to this video... just unreal musicianship. :baimun:

If you need more vocals.... they have an absolutely killer cover of this Stevie classic...

And one that I've posted before with Cory's band. :helper:

They've been on my radar for a while now. I dig it most of the time. The latest thing I heard dodn't do it for me, though.

What are your thoughts of "Work Shit Out"?

To be honest, I may have skipped it after listening to the first two minutes.... but after listening to the entire thing (multiple times), I realized that they are walking this fine line between the jazz fusion stuff that noodles on for an hour, with each member taking an extended solo... but added just enough pop and funk elements to not lose the entire room.

Plus their arranging is pretty epic... I would love to hear them do a complete soundtrack for a movie. :baimun:

I like that one, and I agree with your assessment. The one thing I don't like, though, is how processed the vocals are.
