The Gretsch Black Falcon needs no introduction.ﾠ This all maple beauty is an incredible sounding and playing guitar, not to mention the looks.ﾠ The black finish is embellished with multiple layers of binding on the body, neck, and f-holes done in fancy gold sparkle.ﾠ This adds highlights to the looks that are Gretsch all the way.ﾠ The Hi Sensitivity Filter-Tron pickups, Bigsby B6CB, and Grover Imperial tuners are gold as well and the control knobs feature rhinestone and white inlays to round out the aesthetic features.ﾠ The all maple body and neck provide a big, round tone with plenty of high end bite for mellow jazz, kickin country, or snappy rock tones that carry plenty of sustain and resonance due to the full hollow body.ﾠ The Gretsch Black Falcon is definitely a big box but plays like a dream and sounds even better.ﾠ If the normal hollow body guitars just don't have what you're looking for, the Gretsch Black Falcon certainly does.

I reckon it's nice. Not a fan of gold hardware, but I'd have to see it with the gold sparkle finish before passing final judgment.

the Gretsch "space control" bridge solves a problem nobody asked about. it allows you to adjust the string spacing individually for each string. and since it's non-compensated, it works best with a wound 3rd string. a plain 3rd will throw the intonation out of whack.

Don't be a wimp Howie. My Annie has the Space Control bridge, and I don't find it to be a problem.


As for the Black Falcon - yes of course, VERY hot! It's too bad they cost so much (even if you go to places that are cheaper than Pro Guitar Shop, like Streetsounds, Shanghai Music, Blackrider Music, or Cream City Music). I like the Black Phoenix even more, but it's even more out of my price range! :(
