Hooters files for bankruptcy.

The local hooters always looked super skanky from the outside. They closed sometime around the beginning of the pandemic and the place was eventually renovated and reopened as a lame fried chicken place. That company recently declared bankruptcy too....maybe its a businessexual transmitted disease.

The biggest controversy in my town was when they fought to put a Hooters in. People where so against it, like it was a brothel or a strip club. "What will I tell my child when she asks what a Hooters is?"
I went to the town meeting. I said, you know, it's better than the restaurant it's replacing. My kid asked me what a Fuddrucker was, and I gave him a time out. I tell you what, we don't go anywhere near that BJ's.

Decades ago I used to have a friend that loved Hooters wings and it was literally on the same block where he lived. He'd always push to go to Hooters when my friend group would be going out for eats. As a result, I've been to a Hooters more times than I can recall.
Anyway, your post reminded me that some of the most cringe moments I've witnessed there were dudes making their kids take pictures with the servers. They'd always tell the kids to do some creepy stuff with the ladies for the picture.

hooters had boobs and it was the same thing with me too and it wasn't like that at the end i just felt so much more relaxed about my body than it is today

I've never been. There really was a huge pushback about opening up a local Hooters. In the end, the uproar was for nothing. They went out of business at that location just like Fuddruckers and Sizzler did.

One of my friends worked at hooters when we were 18. Became friendly with a bunch of the staff. Some of the stories they would tell had me second hand cringing.

He would also drop a mess of wings right before they closed sometimes and bring them to us wherever we were partying since they were going to be thrown away anyway. Good times.

They opened one at Baltimore's Inner Harbor complex in the 80s. My son, who was about 10 years old, wanted me to take him there. That was one time that I disappointed him. I just found the whole concept disgusting. I still have never been to a Hooters.

They started in what...the late 80s/early 90s? That's a pretty good run for a restaurant chain. Aside from the gimmick of scantily clad young women, their food was pretty average really. As far as the outfits go, what was risqué back then is fairly common now. It is not uncommon to see women wearing more revealing outfits in public nowadays.

To me, there is a difference between someone choosing to dress like that and being made to dress like that for corporate earnings.

What about someone choosing to work somewhere that dress is standard?
Last I checked, being a server or bar tender in any old restaurant without that dress standard is the same skill set as being one in a hooters.
