This pic isn't mine, but it's identical, everything..I'll post a couple of real pics soon
Mine's all scratched up, many miles of rock chips, etc, high miles (160K) but everything works :)
4.3 vortec, 5 speed manual. These engines go forever if you maintain them.
Hopefully it'll be paid for in a month or so.

COngrats. 160 isn't so bad.

I was so tired of car/truck shopping and tired of borrowing and renting :( I needed my own DD so *knocks on wood* let's hope I'm done for a while.

The cost of this will be included in my losses, so hopefully I'll get it back.

I hate going into debt, so I know how you feel.

It's a five speed though, and those really do seem to have good life spans. I hope it treats you well.

Nice. The 4.3 Vortec will run forever if maintained. My 96 Silverado with the same engine has 238K and still gets 24-26 mpg on the highway. Not bad for a full size truck. Bet that lil truck gets about 30 mpgs. :thu:

How the hell do you get that kind of gas mileage? My '03 Blazer (S10, not full size) with the 4.3 only gets about 17 mpg on a good day. Now, it's a 4 wheel drive, but it's still probably lighter than a full size 2wd Silverado.

I'm guessing the terrain in your area has a lot to do with it.

It's not like I'm driving to work in 4 wheel drive uphill all the way. I can see maybe getting a couple mpg less because of the hills, but damn.

It seems like everything in WV is uphill. Especially if I'm running.

Nitrogen filled tires helps, normal oil changes, every other oil change I clean and gap the plugs, unless it's time to replace them. I also use a can of seafoam gas treatment every 3rd tank. Plus around here most the roads are flat and the speed limit is 65, except when I get away and get on the interstate. So going 70 on cruise control the engine purrs along at 1700 rpm. very fuel efficient.

I don't know if I'll ever see 30mpg, but a 5 speed definitely helps. And lose the lead foot!
