I think pick guards over f-holes look like crap... Lose the guard or lose an f-hole, and it would be perfect.. That said, I would take it...
 
I have one and really like it. My only complaint is the neck is a little thinner than I would like, but that's a personal thing.
 
I have one that was my main guitar for five years. I really like that guitar but if I was doing it over I'd try to find a deal on a proline.

I used to like the ones in the Boise guitar store that closed. If the new pickups are even better, it should be nice. I say hot.
 
I like the neck. Maybe more accurately, I don't care much about neck sizes and shapes. They all feel pretty good to me.

The big question is: Black or burst?

Black... Personally, I like thin necks... The only Gretch I ever tried was my friend's vintage puke green hollow body, 25 years ago... One day, I'll go to a music store...

i'm pretty flexible with neck shapes. but there are some that i come across that i just can't get with. the 5120 is one of them.
 
They're pretty nice. And, while putting in a set of HS filtertrons (don't forget to get a set of English Mounts for the pickups), or TV Classics really boots them into Gretschy sounding territory, you can also help the sound head into that territory, by raising the polepieces of the G-buckers. Personally, I prefer Dynas - they're much rowdier sounding! :grin: Color-wise, sunburst does it for me.

Ellen, the new releases have different gretschbuckers that are darn close to filters to my tin ears. I could live with stock, I think.
Honestly, I'm getting tired of fiddling. I just want to play.

speaking of Gretschbuckers and replacements. Ellen, have you played either the TV Jones SuperTrons or the Dimarzio EJ Custom humbuckers?
