Help! Godin H.D.R. VS Reverend Bass Contour

Even though I have no earthly need for more guitars, the sickness continues unabated. I have bout $1.2K in my “mad money” referee account debit card, with about another $1K coming in the next couple of months (high school season I have about three to five games a week in Jan. and Feb. So, I’m idly wondering if anybody has played both? I am currently contemplating either a Godin Stadium ‘59 with the Godin “High Definition Revoicer” circuit

Or the Reverend Sensei Jr., with the Bass Contour circuit:

Sounds like they both provide a lot of sonic firepower via their tone-shaping capabilities, but I am unsure which would be the ‘most coolest’...

Well, the Rev would win on “most coolest”, but the Godin is gonna be more versatile.

I think the Godin HDR actually acts as an active boost (battery operated), whereas the bass contour on the Rev rolls off the bass frequencies. Don’t quote me on that.

this, on all points. Those sensei jrs are hella cool (and the godin thing is almost more like a mid boost, and the reverend/G&L thing is a passive bass cut)

I haven’t played those exact guitars but I did have a Godin Icon Type 2 Convertible, which has the Seymour Duncan P-Rails and the HDR. To me the HDR boosted volume and the highs and lows. I started buying Reverends and sold the Godin. I feel like the Revs sound better and the BCC adds another tone option. If you’re looking at the Godin with the HB neck and single coil bridge, check out the Rev Buckshot. It has a similar PU configuration.

I can’t speak to what the Godin does, but the Reverend BCC is a passive bass roll off. It basically does the opposite of the tone control.

I'd flip through Reverb's used Rev listings and jump at whatever grabbed you. Just wondering: one pickup? Really?

I’m thinking that with the bass contour adjustment, I can probably get some “neck” pickup tones while saving weight and electronic complexity.
