New for 2015 is the GJ2 Grover Select series featuring premium woods and finishes for all the current models.

This Shredder FR Select has an 4A Flame Maple top, Mahogany body, a Roasted Flame Maple neck, bound Rosewood fretboard with mini-bullseye inlays, recessed Floyd Rose tremolo, Hipshot staggered locking tuners and two Habanero Classic pickups.

A flamey super strat. I bet it plays nice and is well built, but it isn't the guitar for me.
 
In all fairness, it is a superstrat by the dude who pretty much invented the concept.

So it's ok with me.


You know -- it's interesting to me: If you look at the Fender Telecaster (1950), Gibson Les Paul (1952) and Fender Stratocaster (1954) you have three guitars that are over 60 years old, but are still revered in their original form and not considered remotely dated. To me, that indicates truly world-class industrial design. So many subsequent designs and refinements of these designs have now been relegated to the status of curiosities or specialized/niche items.
 
I like the orange one. I really don't like the weird dots on the first one... or the binding.
 
For that price I'd prefer the Guthrie Govan Charvel were I after a shred guitar with a bolt neck and 24 frets. I'm not that player though, never really was. It seems like a nice piece of gear, just not for me.
